Sweat Tax ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. We comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of South Africa.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary for the app to function:

• Account Information: Name, email address, and password (for authentication via Firebase).
• Profile Data: Gender, birth date, height, and weight (optional — used to personalise your experience).
• Workout Data: Exercise logs, sets, reps, weights, personal records, and workout splits you create.
• App Preferences: Equipment selections, workout duration preferences, and notification settings.

We do not collect location data, contacts, browsing history, or any data unrelated to your fitness journey.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to:

• Provide and improve the Sweat Tax app experience
• Sync your workout data across devices via Firebase
• Enable features like PR tracking, muscle recovery maps, and progress analytics
• Facilitate the GymBro connection feature (only data you choose to share)
• Allow Personal Trainers to manage client programs (with client consent)

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in two places:

• Locally on your device using secure on-device storage
• Google Firebase (cloud sync) — protected by Firebase's enterprise-grade security and encryption

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data. Passwords are never stored by us — authentication is handled entirely by Firebase Authentication.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to anyone.

We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers. Your data stays between you and your Sweat Tax account.

The only exception is when you voluntarily share data through in-app features (e.g., sharing a workout with your GymBro).

5. Your Rights (Under POPIA)

You have the right to:

• Access your personal information at any time
• Correct any inaccurate information
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Object to the processing of your information
• Withdraw consent at any time

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

Sweat Tax is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
